TrueAlgae (the operating name of GreenTech Ventures, Inc.), an innovator in algal metabolite technology, and Toshin Denko Co., LTD, a manufacturer of industrial equipment, have agreed to sign a technology license and an equipment purchase agreement to allow for production and sale of proprietary metabolite mixtures in Japan. The arrangement provides exclusive rights to TrueAlgae’s patented algae growing system and the resulting patent pending metabolite products for use in agriculture and poultry in Japan.
TrueAlgae is pioneering the use of algal metabolites to address challenges in agriculture, animal feed, and beyond. The innovative approach uses algae as a factory to produce customizable metabolites tailored to specific agricultural needs. This approach is unique in the industry as the final products are strictly metabolites, not the algae biomass. Research has proven that these metabolites signal the soil microbiome to activate and release key nutrients for uptake by crops, optimizing health and productivity of these crops.
Toshin Denko is a company that manufactures overhead line hardware for infrastructure such as power distribution and railway systems in Japan and is actively pursuing solutions to meet environmental challenges specific to Japan. TrueAlgae’s system, which uses only sunlight, CO2 and trace minerals to produce earth-friendly, organic products, fits this mission. “Toshin Denko is uniquely positioned in industry to work with farmers and other stakeholders, to move agriculture in a more sustainable and natural direction,” said Ryutaro Teraoka, Executive Director. “TrueAlgae’s use of metabolites, instead of the algae biomass, and the scientific proof to support their use, is the innovation we have been looking for to allow for market differentiation.” Toshin Denko plans to build the first production facility in Gifu, an important agricultural region in Japan.
