TrueAlgae (the operating name of GreenTech Ventures, Inc.), an innovator in microalgae derived metabolite technology, and DPH Biologicals, a leading developer and supplier of agricultural biologicals, have formed a research and development collaboration. The initial project of the R&D partnership will focus on developing a seed treatment designed to address Iron Deficiency Chlorosis (IDC), a problem that impacts crops grown on over 30% of global farmland, especially soybean production throughout the US Corn Belt.
TrueAlgae is pioneering the use of algal metabolites to address challenges in agriculture and beyond. Their innovative approach uses algae as a factory to produce customizable metabolites tailored to specific agricultural needs. The patent-pending metabolite mix for IDC stimulates the production of siderophores in the soil, chelating trapped iron allowing it to be available for uptake by the crop. Creating a seed treatment will allow for economical use of this innovative technology to solve a critical problem for farmers.
